- Ownership stays with you. Delegation assigns voting power to a validator.
- Rewards come from network fees. Commission, stake and uptime affect the outcome.
- Access has conditions. Slashing and unbonding rules apply to delegated OZONE.
Start by understanding the action
Delegation assigns staked OZONE to a validator without transferring ownership to that operator. It supports the validator’s voting power and can earn a share of transaction fees. Retaining ownership does not mean coins remain immediately transferable: staking and unbonding rules govern when they can move. Delegated coins are also exposed to network penalties.
Review the validator
Inspect available validator information, operating history and commission in the staking portal. Review available uptime and consensus information alongside the operator’s commission. Voting power and past activity provide context, but do not guarantee future performance or safety. Use the current validator directory rather than a dated count in a document.
Understand where rewards come from
Whitepaper v3.0 describes transaction fees distributed in OZONE each block, in proportion to stake and uptime, with validator commission deducted from a delegator’s share. The amount depends on network activity and validator conditions. There is no fixed APY or guaranteed yield stated here. Review the current commission and network parameters before making a decision.
Know slashing and unbonding rules
Double-signing and prolonged downtime can lead to penalties affecting validators and delegators. Unbonding introduces a waiting period during which coins earn no rewards and can still be slashed for earlier misbehaviour. The whitepaper does not specify an exact duration or penalty percentage. Confirm current values in maintained network documentation or the staking interface before delegating. Treat an unstaking request as the start of a process, rather than an assurance of immediate availability.
Check what you sign
Open the staking portal through a verified project link, confirm the network and destination, and review every wallet request. Check that you are on Ozone Mainnet, chain ID 10121, using OZONE. Confirm the validator and amount shown in the wallet match your intent. Never disclose your private key or recovery phrase, including to anyone claiming to provide support.
Participation includes a voice
Delegators can participate in governance directly or inherit their validator’s vote. Read proposals carefully and understand the parameters being changed. Participation is an ongoing responsibility, rather than a guarantee of income.
Four checks worth making.
- I have reviewed the validator and its current commission.
- I understand slashing exposure and have checked the unbonding rules.
- I have verified the portal, network and transaction details.
- I understand that fees and past activity do not promise a return.
